Protein 17 - Certified Organic, Grass-fed Whey Protein

Protein 17 FAQs

  1. Q: Where does Protein 17 come from?
A: Protein 17 comes exclusively from the healthiest, USDA certified organic, grass-fed cows in the US.
  2. Q: Why buy from us?
A: Everything we do, from the way we live our lives to the way we run our business is to achieve optimum health and fitness for ourselves and our customers. Protein 17 is the only protein powder we give our parents, our friends, our loved ones and even our children. Why? Because we believe in it.
  3. Q: What does 'instantized' mean?
A: Instantizing is a process involving heat that most whey protein powders are subject to in order to make it instantly dissolve in water. Unfortunately, this additional processing step exposes the whey to more heat and can damage the delicate whey micro-nutrients. If your whey contains the words "instant whey" or "mixes instantly" or the ingredient "soy lecithin" it has been instantized and most likely denatured.

Protein 17 is so pure that is has NOT been instantized.
  4. Q: I read that "raw" milk whey is even better?
A: Sorry, but this is a case of misleading marketing. There is no such thing as whey made from "raw" milk. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not permit (by law) the sale of whey from "raw" milk. I know there are some websites that claim this but their whey has been treated.
  5. Q: What ingredients are in Protein 17?
A: There is only ONE ingredient in Protein 17, USDA certified organic, grass-fed whey protein concentrate.
  6. Q: What does Protein 17 taste like?
A: It has a delicious natural creamy taste, like fresh natural milk. There is absulutely no coloring, flavors or additives of any kind, only 100% pure USDA certified organic whey protein concentrate.
  7. Q: "I've tried natural or plain protein before and I didn't like the taste"
A: This is because 99% of protein powders have been treated with acid during production which causes it to be very bitter. This is why most protein powders need to heavily flavored with controversial artificial sweeteners and flovors.

Protein 17 has NOT been acid treated so it has a delicious natural creamy taste, like fresh natural milk. There are absolutely no added colors, flavors or additives of any kind - only 100% pure USDA certified organic, pasture-fed whey protein concentrate.
  8. Q: What is the difference between grass-fed and pasture-fed?
A: None, they both refer to the same thing. Grass-fed is the term many people use, however pasture-fed is the more accurate term because as cows graze they will eat other things too such as clover.
  9. Q: Why is organic so important?
A: Certified organic is your only guarantee (enforced by law) that your food is free from hormones, pesticides and chemicals. Terms like 'natural' are NOT regulated by law so even products that contain hormones, chemicals or pesticides can use the term 'natural'.
    Insist on certified organic only.
  10. Q: Where is Protein 17 made?
A: Protein 17 is proudly made in the USA exclusively from the healthiest, USDA certified organic, grass-fed cows.
  11. Q: I heard grass-fed/pasture-fed don't mean anything
A: Wrong. To claim grass-fed/pasture-fed special affidavits and certifications must be signed which are legally binding. Protein 17 is certified organic, pasture fed, hormone treatment free, GMO free.
  12. Q: "I read New Zealand whey is better then organic"
A: No. Certified organic is a always a higher standard then anything labeled as 'natural' and the USDA organic is one of the highest in the world. Don't be fooled by claims "it's as good as organic" because it is not.
  13. Q: "I already use a protein that is labeled as 'natural', why should I switch?"
A: The word 'natural' is not regulated by law and anyone can use it. This may sound misleading (I agree with you) but products can claim 'natural' and still have pesticides and hormones in it - crazy but true.

However, the use of the word 'organic' and the USDA certified organic symbol are tightly regulated by law. They are your guarantee of purity. Do not be fooled by marketing claims that 'natural whey' is the same as certified organic, it is NOT.
  14. Q: What temperature has Protein 17 been processed at? Has it been pasteurized?
A: Protein 17 is processed the MINIMUM PERMITTED BY LAW. Instead of the typical high heat pasteurization techniques most whey proteins are subjected to, Protein 17 employs a gentler technique which only exposes the fresh raw milk to a temperature of 70 degrees Celsius for fifteen seconds and is then cooled to five degrees Celsius. This technique is the minimal allowed by law and preserves the delicate whey micro-nutrients.
  15. Q: Why is Protein 17 a concentrate, I thought isolate or hydrolysate was better?
A: Whey Protein Isolate and Whey Protein Hydrolysate have been well marketed but the reality is that both are heavily processed powders in which the proteins may be damaged and many of the beneficial components of the whey have been removed.

You see, Whey Protein Concentrate is known as WPC 80 (with grass-fed whey being the very best).

This means it is 80% protein by weight.

The other 20% is largely made up of the beneficial co-factors that help your body absorb and process the protein.

So why would anyone strip these out??

    Easy.

The fitness industry knows that people are obsessed with protein content so they prefer to market 90% protein instead of 80% protein (forgetting to mention that the 90% protein is far inferior) ...

... AND if your protein comes from low quality, hormone-treated milk and has many chemical additives, the extra processing isn't going to make it much worse anyway.

So, that's the difference between an isolate/hydrolysate and concentrate - the isolate/hydrolysate has had all the beneficial nutritional co-factors (lactoferrins and immunoglobulins to help support your immune system and minerals such as calcium and potassium) that nourish your muscles and your body REMOVED just so the label can a few extra grams of protein per serving.

If you want more muscle and better health, always choose the purest, highest quality protein or else your body probably isn't even absorbing most of it anyway.

  18. Q: What is soy lecithin and why is it in almost every protein powder?
A: Soy lecithin is used in instantizing. This is a process involving heat that most whey protein powders are subject to in order to make them instantly dissolve in water. Unfortunately, this additional processing step exposes the whey to more heat and can damage the delicate whey micro-nutrients. If your whey contains the words "instant whey" or "mixes instantly" or the ingredient "soy lecithin" it has been instantized and most likely denatured.

Protein 17 is so pure that it has NOT been instantized and contains no soy lecithin.
